My wife and I have been in the network marketing business for just over 20 years. We got in it accidentally, just like most other people in that somebody called us up and said, “I want you to look at this thing.” They won’t tell you what it is, so you go and have a look. Some of the questions that were asked of us that meeting were life changing experiences. One question was, “Where are you going to be two to five years from now if you keep doing what you’re doing?” That question scared us, because we knew what we’d be doing: exactly the same thing that we were doing that day. Another question was, “If time and money were no objects, what would you do?” That was the first time in our lives that we had the freedom to dream. And now, 20 years later, we have a fantastic lifestyle. That’s when MonaVie came along for us.

We had an interesting opportunity. The second time around we were able to shop for the company that we wanted to be with, which is highly unusual and very coveted position. When you’re out there looking for someone to hook up with instead of just connecting with whoever finds you first, it’s just great.

We are in the middle of constructing a new home, and we chose this lot because nobody can ruin our view. But we’ve had this property for probably 3 years. During our rough period before we found MonaVie, we were kind of holding back, wondering if we should proceed or if we should sell it. We got involved in MonaVie and went Black Diamond within the first three months. It was a clear signal to both Tami and I that we should go forward. It’s been a boost of confidence for us to know that we can actually have the things that we dreamt of for a long time. One of the neat things about Calgary is that we’re so close to the Rocky Mountains. A few rivers run out of the Rocky Mountains. One of them in particular is the Bow River. It runs right through the city of Calgary, and many people come in and to fish there, which is kind of unique. It is great living here. Most people know Calgary from the Calgary Stampede. It’s the greatest outdoor show on earth if you’re a rodeo person. We’ve got the Rocky Mountains 40 minutes away, so the skiing and hiking are great. This is a fantastic place to live: great people, great energy, and an awesome place to build your business.

When we looked into MonaVie, the first questions we asked were, “How does it work in Canada? Can you ship it to Canada? Does it freeze during the winter time? Where are the distribution centers? What kind of currency do we trade in?” We found that MonaVie has been bending over backwards in the last couple of months to make sure they take care of Canadians, and that’s very important to us. It’s also very important to the other distributors across Canada. MonaVie is doing a fantastic job to accommodate us. One of the things about being the first Black Diamonds in Canada is the pressure. We have to perform and be on top of things. We know there are a lot of eyes watching us. We take great pride in the effort we’ve put in and the job we do, and also in representing both the Canadian distributor and MonaVie in Canada. We’re looking forward to the challenge.

I guess it could be said that we went Black Diamond in five months, but from our seat that’s not necessarily true. We’ve been in the industry for 20 years and there have been a lot of people and a lot of miles traveled. There have been a lot of good lessons learned, as well as a lot of hard lessons learned.

We got involved in the industry because we knew it was the only way that we could get involved in business and create a lifestyle where we could do this on a Thursday. It’s easy in the sense that there are no buildings to buy; there are no employees, stock, or insurance. There are none of the normal things that you have in conventional business. You don’t need these things. So what am I investing in? Well, I’m investing in product, so I have some on hand that I can market my business with. I’m investing in some gasoline to get to somebody else’s house. And I am investing in myself. I want to figure out ways to make myself a better communicator of the message that MonaVie has to offer.

MonaVie has been a blessing in many ways to us, not just as another business or something else to do because, quite frankly, we weren’t looking for another business. But we were looking for a business for all of those people that we’ve been with for years, and our family and our friends who never had an interest in the industry because of the products. The product is what has made all of the difference for us. Coming into MonaVie has been a whole new experience even though we’ve been in the industry for 20 years because of the great product, the compensation plan, and because the company truly believes their distributors are their greatest asset.
